Position Information


About the Role

As a School Learning Support Officer (SLSO), you will support students with autism and moderate intellectual disability. The role involves supporting students in the classroom and other learning environments under the guidance of a teacher. Key responsibilities include assisting with learning tasks, wellbeing, communication, health and personal care needs, and helping students build independence and daily living skills.

Essential Requirements

* Working with Children Check Clearance
* Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and a willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the School Learning Support Officer role.

* Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

* Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions).


Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
* Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
* Effective communication skills.

Warwick Farm Public School is a small, culturally diverse public school located in South Western Sydney, catering to approximately 212 students. Our families represent more than 40 nationalities, with 5.9% of students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and 70% coming from families with a Language Background Other Than English. The school currently operates nine classes, supported by a dedicated team comprising both early career and experienced teachers. In 2026, the school will establish its first support class, expanding its capacity to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Warwick Farm Public School maintains strong and productive partnerships within the local community. The school collaborates closely with neighbouring schools, including Liverpool Hospital School and Mainsbridge School, and works in partnership with community organisations such as Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections to enhance student wellbeing and engagement. All stakeholders work collaboratively to realise the school's shared vision for excellence in teaching, learning, and care.
