The Role
Are you an enthusiastic and experienced reporter, ready to join our creative and dedicated team in Mackay? We are seeking a reporter to create content for broadcast, social media and online platforms to engage and inform audiences.
The position is based in Mackay but serves a region including Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays, the mining region west to Moranbah and Dysart and agricultural areas south to Sarina and St Lawrence. It is a diverse region, with fishing, snorkelling, rainforests, and tropical islands on your doorstep. The region boasts more than 30 beaches, a thriving arts community and other great lifestyle opportunities.
The Job
We are looking for a dynamic and driven reporter to create news content for multiple platforms. Reporting to the Editor ABC Tropical North, the role will involve:
* Creating multi-platform content under routine Editor direction and with colleagues
* Presenting news bulletins, Q&As, interviews, and breaking stories across platforms
* Supporting Local Emergency Coverage and liaise with stakeholders as needed
* Developing local content for sharing with News teams and across ABC platforms
* Promoting ABC values and follow workplace policies and guidelines
About You
You are a highly motivated reporter with a strong knowledge of local and national news issues. Your skills and experience include:
* Journalism qualification or equivalent experience
* Strong editorial and live broadcast skills
* Knowledge of local audience issues
* Passion for diverse, authentic Australian stories
* Paid parental, carer's and supporting partner leave.
