This 12-month fixed term position sits within the Environmental Team at Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation (RNO) and is accountable for assistance with input into management of environmental obligations and objectives. Ensuring that environmental targets are achieved and regulatory compliance maintained, in support of First Quantum Minerals Australia Nickel (FQMAN) sustainability goals.

To undertake a range of duties in support of environmental strategies, advocating for optimum environmental outcomes. Including, but not limited to:

Adherence to business HSE performance standards, policy, procedures and systems;

Application of strong written communication, analytical and electronic record keeping skills to record accurate, high-quality environmental data/evidence compliant with statutory reporting requirements

Complete sampling and monitoring requirements (internal and statutory);

Collate, verify, interpret and report accurate environmental data;

Facilitate workgroup information sharing and business continuity;

Prepare and arrange delivery of samples and supplies to the laboratory; and

Prepare risk assessments, procedures, work instructions and pre-starts for activities conducted by environmental staff and contractors.

Assist operational personnel to fulfil environmental obligations and functions


Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or (essential);

Physically capable and willing to undertake field operations work in a variety of weather conditions, as an inherent requirement of the job, with a demonstrable commitment to workplace safety (essential);

Willingness to learn; be trained in various types of environmental monitoring (essential);

Outstanding attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to record accurate, high-quality data

Basic computer skills – competent in use of MS Office Suite (essential) with a capacity to learn ArcGIS, and environmental database software (desirable);

Strong conceptual understanding, with ability to interpret various legislation;

Sound interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships;

Sound verbal and written communication skills;
