About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available to participate in the establishment of an innovative work readiness program for International Medical Graduates (IMGs). This role will contribute to the effective delivery of a professional and candidate focused clinical placement service and education program as part of the North Queensland International Medical Graduate Preparation program within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS).
The North Queensland International Medical Graduate Preparation Program (NQ IMG Prep) aims to create a pipeline of locally trained, orientated and work ready IMG Doctors for the medical workforce across North Queensland. The program will involve a mix of formal education sessions and clinical attachments to assist candidates to successfully enter the North Queensland medical workforce.
The NQ IMG Prep Administrative Officer role will involve the functions of administrative support for the selection and appointment processes for International Medical Graduates as part of their participation in the NQ IMG Prep program, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Queensland Health policy. NQ IMG Prep candidates will require registration with AHPRA to allow participation in the clinical attachment portions of the program. This role will also assist with other administrative tasks required for the successful development, implementation, and delivery of the NQ IMG Prep program including but not limited to program planning, development, and evaluation, coordination of the teaching schedule, room bookings, assistance with preparing reports and other submissions relevant to the NQ IMG Prep program, and otherwise providing administrative support to the Director of Clinical Training NQ IMG Prep as they perform the functions of their roles within THHS.

* Whilst there are nil mandatory requirements for this role, previous experience working in a medical workforce or education team, would be highly desirable.

* Awareness of the regulatory processes for medical registration.
* Demonstrated experience and ability to identify applicant registration conditions to:
o Provide a suitable candidate shortlist;
o Progress to offer of program placement.
* Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on upholding the THHS values.
* Demonstrated complex problem-solving skills including those specifically related to application of the legislative requirements for Medical Officers including medical registration procedures, credentialing, immigration requirements, CPD requirements.
