Kidsafe Queensland is the state-based affiliate of Kidsafe – formerly known as The Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia. Kidsafe is the only not-for-profit organisation working across Australia to reduce the incidence of unintentional child and youth deaths and injury. For more than 45 years Kidsafe has undertaken research and advocacy initiatives to reduce the incidence of these injuries to fulfill our vision of a safer world for kids.

The role
A Kidsafe child car restraint Fitter is responsible for correctly fitting child car restraints to an approved standard, providing advice and consumer information regarding different types of child car restraints, and advising on suitability for use according to a child's age and size. The fitter must ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant child restraint installations. Attention to detail and strong organisational skills contribute significantly to the effectiveness of Kidsafe QLD's child car restraint programs.
Skills, attributes and experience :
Great written and oral skills - the ability to accurately complete and file records using forms or and online platform.
Good communication skills - the ability to provide clear, empathetic guidance to caregivers and to provide information and advice to customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Ability to empathise - to appreciate needs of the customer and be customer focussed - making customers and their needs a primary focus of your actions.
Be safety aware - promote a safe working environment by adhering to WHS obligations, cleanliness and storage protocols.
Hold a current driver's licence and own vehicle.
Computer literacy in Microsoft products with a willingness to learn and use other software as required.
Have the capacity to learn new skills and information.
Would prefer a current Certificate Type 1 in Child Car Restraint Fitting - but full training will be given to the right person.
Must have a police check and blue card.
Previous experience in a similar role or in child care, allied health, baby store sales would be an advantage.
Due to working with newborns, children and pregnant women, up-to-date vaccinations are required
Physical and psychological fitness to meet role duties / requirements :
Regularly required to stand for long periods.
Prepared to work outside.
Read written instructions, reports, and other information on paper and computer screens.
Orally communicate with customers on consistent basis throughout the shift.
Mental alertness and the ability to understand and follow sequences and processes.
Lift, lean, crouch, climb, place, and install car restraints in all types of vehicles.
Bend down and reach above head.
Lift and carry heavy car restraint equipment.

It is a good feeling giving parents and carers peace of mind and making a difference. This role could be part time at least 3 days per or full time depending on the amount of training required, aptitude for the work and experience.
