The Role
This role focuses on ensuring the reliability and functionality of protection and control systems within Jemena's electrical distribution power system. Key responsibilities include testing, commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting secondary protection relays, control systems, and primary network equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform diagnostic testing and maintenance on electrical protection and control relays and equipment.
* Analyse and troubleshoot protection system faults and malfunctions.
* Conduct repairs & maintenance on field distribution ground and pole top devices.
* Commission new protection and control equipment, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
* Verify integration of protection devices with overall power system infrastructure.
* Generate detailed reports documenting protection and control system performance.
* Coordinate testing activities with internal and external customers.
* Prepare work records and reports, including input into databases and work hours/daily work records.
* Adhere to safety guidelines while working with high-voltage equipment.
* Maintain industry standards and regulations related to protection and control systems.
* Participate in an on-call availability roster.
About You
We seek a candidate with a positive customer and team focus, effective communication skills, and technical knowledge of power systems-related equipment. The ideal candidate will possess an Advanced Diploma of ESI – Power Systems or equivalent qualification.
Requirements:
* Possess advanced technical knowledge and experience in power systems-related equipment.
* Proficiency in using relay testing equipment and primary test equipment.
* Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
* Exercise decisiveness in ensuring network security and public safety.
* Ability to compare information from different sources to draw conclusions and select an appropriate course of action.
