WHS & RTW Advisor
About the Role
Due to an internal development opportunity, our Townsville Plant is currently recruiting a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and Return to Work (RTW) Advisor to join the team in a full‐time capacity. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the WHS & RTW Advisor will work closely with our management team and play a vital role in the successful operation of our processing plant.
Responsibilities
* Promote and influence a positive safety culture.
* Liaise with stakeholders regarding WHS and IMC, maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and best practice.
* Ensure safe systems of work are followed in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
* Utilise the WHS Safety Management System Matrix to plan and review compliance.
* Facilitate consultation activities for the site including toolbox talks, safety observations, consultative committee meetings.
* Conduct incident investigations and safety reports.
* Conduct WHS audits, inspections identifying risks and hazards.
* Carry out associated administrative tasks, statistics and reporting.
* Provide workplace rehabilitation assistance to employees in accordance with legislative and Company policies.
* Oversee the onsite injury management early intervention clinic.
* Oversee effective operation of the site first aid office.
* Consult with the Workers Compensation department regarding injury management processes and claims progression.
Qualifications
* Previous WHS and IMC experience.
* Cert IV Work Health and Safety or higher.
* Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordination (or equivalent) vocational competencies.
* Completed Fire Safety Advisor training or willingness to obtain.
* Working knowledge of WHS Act ****, regulations, Code of Practice and Australian Standards.
* Sound working knowledge of QLD Workplace Rehabilitation Legislation.
* Exposure to a large self‐insurance organisation is advantageous.
* Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
* Strong organisational, time management and problem‐solving skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work within a team environment.
