Position Title: General Accountant

Location: Bowen Hills, Brisbane, QLD, 4006.
Our pharmacy is a Brisbane-based retail and compounding pharmacy specialising in plant-based medications, compounded formulations, men's health products, OTC medicines, and prescription (schedule) medications. We manage a high prescription volume and currently operate men's health steroid projects, alongside compounding and OTC services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for presentation to Stake holders, including P&L, balance sheet, and management reports and providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in the statements presented.
2. Manage month-end and year-end accounts closing processes, including dispensary and retail transactions.
3. Providing Financial and taxation advice on Business Structures.
4. Examining Costs Vs Income includes prescription revenue, OTC sales, PBS and Non-PBS relevant inventory margins, and operating costs.
5. Maintaining and Ensuring integrity of financial data across accounting and pharmacy management systems & Software's.
6. Preparing and presenting monthly budget variance report & cashflow and forecasting to management for monitoring companies' income, expenditure and cashflow
7. Support financial planning for inventory procurement, staffing, and operational expenses.
8. Investigate financial variances, including stock shrinkage, supplier pricing, rebates, and other operational costs and advising on the results.
9. Support BAS, GST, and annual taxation compliance reporting.
10. Ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and pharmacy regulatory requirements.
11. Assist with external audits, preparing reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
12. Analyse payroll costs to support workforce planning, Support compliance with superannuation, payroll tax, and statutory obligations.
13. Liaise with management, suppliers, financial institutions and advisors on financial matters.
14. Analyse Cashflow to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & experience:
* Must have 1-2 years of demonstrated accounting experience.
* Must at least have accounting bachelor's degree or higher qualification from a recognised Australian/overseas educational institution.
* Expert/proficient user of Xero, MYOB.
* Expert Microsoft Excel skills
* Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
