About the Role
The Digital Archivist works under the supervision of a Senior Coordinator, collaborates with staff across the Library on the management of RMIT historically significant digital collections.
* Appraise hybrid and born-digital collections using digital forensics tools and techniques to triage digital material for ingest into the digital preservation system.
* Develop and support workflows and processes for the acquisition and ongoing stewardship of digital collections.
Key Responsibilities:
* Appraise, arrange and describe the hybrid/digital archival collections in the archival content management system.
* Explore digital preservation requirements for a pre-ingest environment including packaging specifications and drafting ingest workflows and procedures for the Library's digital preservation system, Rosetta.
* Investigate solutions to unique issues associated with legacy, obsolete and undocumented file formats.
* Structure and prepare the digital collections for ingest into the Library's digital preservation repository system (Rosetta).
* Collaborate with colleagues to support the ingest, preservation and access of the digital collections into the Library's digital preservation repository system, including the developing procedures and investigating and implementing tools, workflows and processes for acquisition and ingest.
