The Team
We are proud to have a strong Class Actions presence nationally, working to secure justice for our clients in some of the nation's most prominent class actions, including the QSuper and Colonial First State insurance class actions, the Stolen Wages and Stolen Generations class actions, and the Ruby Princess class action. The team is led by an experienced and highly regarded senior practice leader and special counsel team who are deeply invested in coaching their lawyers, providing hands‑on guidance and exposure to complex, high‑profile matters.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Solicitor to join our Class Actions team on a full‑time, permanent basis, working on a diverse portfolio of class actions, including emerging areas in technology, consumer and competition law claims.
Whether you’ve come from defendant or plaintiff law practice, you will manage discrete segments of work involving litigation processes, including preparing evidence, preparing complex court documents, undertaking discovery review and analysis, and preparing tender bundles and analysis of documents.
* Supporting the conduct of multiple class actions, effectively delegating to law clerks and paralegals to deliver on discrete tasks towards these class actions.
* Developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and class action group members, providing regular and effective communication whilst managing expectations.
* Following Shine's key case management processes to help deliver tasks in full and on time, and support more junior team members to do the same.
* Drafting high‑quality legal documents in a timely manner.
What you’ll bring
* A current practising certificate.
* 0 to 3 years’ PAE experience.
* Experience in class actions, either pre‑admission or post‑admission, is desirable but not essential.
* Experience in commercial litigation, either pre‑admission or post‑admission, is essential.
* Experience with e‑discovery is desirable.
* A strong ability to build rapport with our group members and take evidence from lay witnesses.
* Strong legal analytical skills, research skills, and attention to detail.
* Ability to work with and manage large volumes of complex documents and reports.
* A commitment to truly connect with those around you and work together to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
* The passion, motivation and enthusiasm to contribute to our culture and ensure it’s a place where everyone can thrive.
