Ideally located on the northern fringe of Sydney and just an hour's drive from Newcastle, the Central Coast offers one of the best places in Australia to live and work.

Today the Central Coast is one of the fastest growing regions in NSW, with the third largest Local Government Area (LGA) in NSW and the 6th Largest LGA in Australia.

You will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the organisations fleet, mechanical plant and machinery with a key focus on optimum utilisation and safety. Plant and Fleet operates multiple delivery methods to ensure a cost-neutral department while meeting service delivery requirements.

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services the role of Unit Manager Plant and Fleet is responsible for 3500 assets, $45m operational and $10m capital budget. You will lead a diverse team of 99 FTE.

This position is required to work collaboratively with customers to acquire, maintain and replace assets and equipment that allow our customers to meet their service delivery goals.

**Key activities of this role include**:

- develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure Council's fleet, plant and equipment is operational and meeting industry and legislative safety requirements and Council's WHS policy standards
- work collaboratively with our customers and the plant and fleet team for on-going and sustained improvement in the operational and best 'fit for purpose' performance of Councils plant equipment and machinery fleet
- set and be accountable for a customer agreed asset and equipment acquisition, maintenance and disposal schedules to minimise operational downtime
- streamline/automate administration practices and procedures so they are aligned to our key software and GPS systems
- provide relevant and timely asset and equipment financial and operational reports to a variety of customers that meet their specific needs.

- you build and maintain stakeholder relationships and you effectively negotiate and consult to achieve successful resolutions
- you are a people manager with proven success as a leader to grow and develop teams.

This is a Senior Staff contract position for up to a 5-year term and provides a total remuneration package of up to $230k per annum (inclusive of 10.5% superannuation), dependent on skills and experience.

A private use leaseback vehicle is provided in accordance with Council's Vehicle Policy is available to the position. Alternatively a vehicle allowance of $8,580 per annum is also an available option.

Flexible/hybrid working arrangements are available for this position.
