Position Summary
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Commercial Contract Manager provides support and guidance to the Commercial Director in the contract management of the Project. The role is responsible for supporting the guidance of the contracts/commercial team on the project, and for oversight over the contract administration methods, practices, and procedures. The Contract Manager is also responsible for supporting the establishment of project practices and procedures that ensure sound contract management principles are applied.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for any contractual issues on the project
* Reviewing all incoming contractual correspondence
* Reviewing and updating management on contractual risks and critical issues
* Identifying, evaluating and submitting all potential variations/claims
* Supervising the preparation of variations. Claims, EOT's as needed on the project
* Addressing the interpretation of condition of contract and dispute resolution
* Taking all adequate measures to avoid disputes
* Addressing contractual matters with consortium/consultants/landowner's/ subcontractors/suppliers and negotiating variations, claims, EOT and mitigating any contractual disputes
* Ensure all contract administration processes are implemented and maintained in accordance with company policy, guidelines and processes
* Supervise the contract administration team to ensure all contract agreements are administered in accordance with the conditions and provisions of the contract agreements (including correspondence, variations, claims and payments).
* Support project controls team in forecasting and consortium compliance with program commitments.
* Prepare and control sub-contracts and associated documentation.
* Ensure that effective contractual document control processes are adhered to within the business.
* Monitor and review financial data related to contract performance, forecasts, labour, and variation costs, expected Gross Margin and profits, and report any discrepancies as they arise.
* Assist with reporting and processing monthly cost recording and processing.
* Ensure full awareness of all ongoing site activities/risks via routine site visits and provide assessments of those activities on the overall project.
Skills and experience
Experience and knowledge
* A minimum of ten (10) years' experience delivering complex civil projects
* Renewable energy sector experience welcome, but not required.
* Experience in managing complex major contracts, variation, and extension of time claims.
* Experience supporting diverse teams in the operation of commercial contracts management systems, policies, and procedures.
* Demonstrated experience engineering / construction industry contracting practices, pricing, contract law, planning and scheduling, government and commercial procurement regulations and practices.
* Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
* Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solving with the ability to resolve and address issues as they arise.

* Computer literacy and strong competence with the Microsoft 365 suite of software is fundamental to this role.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in a related field including Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or Contract Management.
