Job Description: Mechanical Technician - (Urea & Ammonia Plant)
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and static equipment, as directed by the Supervisor/Engineer.
- Execute disassembly, inspection, and assembly of mechanical components, ensuring compliance with safety and vendor recommendations and established maintenance procedures.
- Conduct regular Look-Listen-Feel (LLF) inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures while taking field rounds.
- Monitor equipment performance, record deviations, and report findings to Supervisors/Engineers.
- Conduct preventive, predictive, breakdown and shutdown maintenance tasks instructed by Supervisors/Engineers.
- Inspect, test, and calibrate safety-critical components (e.g., pressure relief valves, safety valves) under Supervisor oversight.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Diploma / TAFE in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or related field. Additional certifications or training in specialized mechanical maintenance (e.g., vibration analysis, pump maintenance, machinery alignment, welding, NDT, etc.) are an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, with a focus on rotating and static equipment in a continuous process industry, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the fertilizer, chemical, or petrochemical industries.
- Experience of working in a Urea Granulation plant, product handling and conveyor system is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with Condition Monitoring Systems (CMS) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods is a plus.
