We're now looking for a talented Economist to join our expanding Economic Impact Consultancy team in Sydney. About The Role
We are looking to hire an Economist with approximately one to three years experience to play a key role in our Economic Impact consulting team. The role is ideally suited to someone with a strong foundation in applied economic analysis or strategy consultancy and demonstrated experience delivering complex client-facing projects.
The team works closely with both private and public sector clients. We demonstrate the social, environmental and economic impact of clients' activities and help communicate these to key stakeholders. Our work ranges from in-depth modelling and quantification of the effects of economic policy changes for governments to detailed quantification of the impacts of companies, industries and technologies. You will enjoy access to a wide range of clients, from some of Australia's largest ASX 100 companies to governments and emerging start-ups. You will have the opportunity to tackle important and engaging commercial and public policy challenges, and high levels of interaction with senior staff, allowing you to learn from our diverse and talented team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis of consultancy projects with a high standard of rigour, ensuring analytical robustness and clarity of insight;
- Design and conduct advanced economic impact assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and applied microeconomic research;
- Apply the use of economic techniques and quantitative tools across large, complex datasets;
- Support engagement with senior clients, translating economic findings into actionable insights for decision-makers;
- Contribute to and lead the development of consultancy proposals, reports, and high-quality presentations;

We are seeking a candidate with strong technical capabilities, commercial acumen, and a client-focused mindset. The successful applicant will be an intellectually curious and thrives on solving real-world problems.
Essential
- One to three years of professional experience in economic consulting, strategy consulting, state or federal government, policy advisory, or related roles;
- Undergraduate degree in economics, public policy, statistics, data science or finance with strong academic performance;
- Experience in applied economic or data analysis;
- Demonstrated ability to lead the analysis of high-quality projects;
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences;
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and conceptual problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Familiarity with cost-benefit analysis, CGE and/or input-output analysis;
- Proficiency in quantitative tools such as R or Python;
- Postgraduate degree in economics and related fields
