Join to apply for the Teacher - Health and Physical Education role at Department of Education, Western Australia.

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026.

Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic Health and Physical Education (HPE) teacher, with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will ideally be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. Alkimos College is a new, innovative, state-of-the-art secondary college, committed to building a culture of high performance and high care for students and staff. The college prioritises student relationships and mutual respect, and aims to build positive learning environments where students flourish.

Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos, the college opened in 2020 with its foundation Year 7 cohort. Phase 1 facilities include administration, student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, IT labs, technologies workshops, classrooms, science laboratories, and a nature play area. Shared facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available nearby. Phase 2 (rolled out in 2024) includes a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre and additional classrooms.

The Role

The successful applicant will ideally be a positive and passionate HPE teacher, committed to excellence in teaching and learning. You will deliver an engaging and relevant HPE curriculum across the adolescent spectrum, from early and middle phases through to senior secondary courses. You will ideally adopt a college-wide instructional framework based on explicit teaching, instructional skills, strategies, and tactics. A commitment to personal and professional growth and collaboration is expected. Graduates are welcome to apply.

Successful applicants will ideally demonstrate the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise Information Communication Technology (ICT) to provide integrated, personalised, and authentic learning experiences. A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and to provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs. Commitment to the college extra-curricular activities (after-school Academies) and promotion of the college motto, values and vision within the college and wider community are highly desirable.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

- hold an eligible teaching qualification and registration.
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
- apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
