Director of Physician Training (Training Program Director)
The Department of Health seeks a Director of Physician Training responsible for designing and overseeing the future teaching program to meet accreditation standards and obligations under the new award. The Director will prepare both written and clinical examinations and engage with the entire RACP community at Royal Hobart Hospital.
Deputy Director of Physician Training
The Deputy Director will support the Director in program design, oversight, and exam preparation, engaging with the RACP community.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and oversee the physician training program, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
* Prepare and support trainees for the written and clinical examinations.
* Collaborate with the RACP community at Royal Hobart Hospital to implement program improvements.
* Provide pastoral care and support to physician trainees.
Qualifications and Experience
* Physicians passionate about physician training.
* Have or will complete the three mandated RACP supervisor courses.
* Have or will acquire detailed knowledge of RACP training requirements.
* Have an interest in medical education.
* Possess proven organisational and communication skills.
* Willing to provide support and pastoral care to physician trainees.
* Capable of setting up and running the teaching program, engaging with the RACP community at Royal Hobart Hospital.
Essential Requirements
* Holds specialist registration; or
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway; or
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and has sufficient experience; or
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration, where applicable.
Highly Desirable Requirements
* Director: Five years RACP Fellowship; three years experience supervising medical trainees as an Educational Supervisor in RACP Basic Training.
* Deputy Director: RACP Fellowship; experience supervising medical trainees as an Educational Supervisor in RACP Basin Training.
Employment Details
Fixed‐term part‐time positions for 3 years.
Director: 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing 26 May 2026.
Deputy Director: 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing 18 August 2026.
Salary and Benefits
Salary ranges from $216,300 to $296,640 based on experience and seniority, with various allowances and benefits.
