About The Opportunity :
Caterpillar of Australia currently has a challenging opportunity for an energetic, passionate & committed Warehouse Supervisor (Coach) to join the Queensland Distribution Centre (QDC) based in Yatala, QLD.
Reporting to the Operations Manager based in Queensland, the primary responsibility of the Warehouse Supervisor includes servicing client requirements and leadership of approximately 20 operational staff. This position manages the team in the day shift working from Monday to Friday.
As this position is a leadership role, you will be required to drive change, mentor, coach and lead continuous improvement whilst adhering to Caterpillar's 'Values in Action'.
Additional responsibilities of the role may include, but are not limited to:
Ensure a high level of employee safety and adherence to safety policies and procedures
Deliver daily Process Improvement Dialogues and ad hoc operational presentations to operational staff
Oversee the smooth and effective execution of warehouse day to day activities
Meet required area and facility wide KPIs
Lead, coach, mentor and develop operational staff
Key reporting activities on a weekly basis
Daily workforce and operational planning
Analyse operational data on a daily basis
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with sensitive information
Key Skills Required;
Operational Functions: Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Coaching Others: Knowledge of coaching and mentoring concepts and methods; ability to encourage, motivate, and guide individuals in learning and improving effectiveness.
Customer Service Management: Knowledge of customer service priorities and ability to utilize tools and techniques for maintaining an environment where all understand, and are committed to providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.
Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling and management in plants; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to storage, transportation and handling of raw and hazardous materials.
Problem Management Process - MFG: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centres-
Distribution Centre Management: Knowledge of distribution processes, issues and considerations; ability to effectively manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of inventory to stores and/or customers.
Qualifications and Experience:
Demonstrated Leadership experience (3-5 years in a supervisory role)
Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills at all levels
Ability to speak in front of a large group
Strong computer and analytical skills
Strong ability to deliver high levels of customer service
MS Office Suite including MS excel, Project and Access
Exceptional Team building and team-leading skills
Demonstrated strong report writing abilities
Experience in a continuous improvement environment - 6 Sigma and Caterpillar Production System (CPS) will be highly regarded.
Proven and relevant experience within a supervisory capacity – coaching and mentoring
Prior experience within a fast-paced warehousing/logistics environment
Excellent commitment levels and attendance records
Related tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded
