About the Role
Are you a Senior Systems Developer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, and can design scalable, intelligent systems that bridge software engineering, data, and science?
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Developer to lead the design and development of a custom Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) tailored to genomics sequencing workflows.
This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, bioinformatics, and AI-driven innovation. You will play a critical role in building a next-generation system that supports high-throughput sequencing, enables seamless data integration, and meets stringent regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the architecture, design, and development of a scalable, secure, and modular LIMS
* Collaborate with scientists, bioinformaticians, and operations teams to define requirements
* Develop robust APIs for laboratory instruments and data systems
* Implement intelligent features such as predictive tracking and anomaly detection
* Ensure strong data management, security, and compliance (ISO, CLIA, NATA)
* Integrate LIMS with sequencing platforms, QC tools, and analysis pipelines
* Drive automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes
* Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices
About You
* Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field
* 8+ years' experience in software development
* Extensive experience with Linux/Unix environments and SQL databases
* Experience with Git/GitHub and modern development workflows
* Hands‐on experience with AI‐assisted development tools
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and automated testing practices
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience in genomics, sequencing technologies, or bioinformatics
* Previous LIMS or laboratory informatics experience
* Experience with cloud platforms and containerisation
* Familiarity with HPC environments (e.g., SLURM)
Why Join AGRF?
* Contribute to a nationally significant genomics organisation
* Work on impactful systems supporting research, healthcare, and agriculture
* Be part of a collaborative, innovative, and purpose‐driven team
* Engage with cutting‐edge AI and data‐driven technologies
