NT Health (Primary and Public Health Care Unit) - Clinical Nurse/Midwife - Remote (Nurse 3) - (Full time/Part-time/Casual) - Fixed for up to 18 months
This position requires well developed knowledge, skills and experience with adult and paediatric patients with a wide range of health conditions. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team servicing remote clinics. The successful applicant will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Aboriginal specific and culturally appropriate services are provided. Experience driving a manual vehicle and eligibility to obtain an NT driver’s licence along with a willingness to travel to remote communities on a regular basis by either 4WD or light plane is inherent to the role. The successful applicant must be current with or willing to attain vaccination, remote emergency management, and midwifery emergency management certification.
Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive, safe, and effective evidence-based nursing/midwifery care to achieve identified individual/group health outcomes.
2. Provide leadership and care coordination across a shift and act as a resource to other members of staff within a designated portfolio e.g. education, NSQHS Standard.
3. Accountable for the planning, provision, and communication of nursing/midwifery care, including the evaluation and required revision of practice.
4. Demonstrate NTH values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision-making and interactions with consumers and colleagues.
5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria:
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated well-developed knowledge, skills and experience in the relevant area of nursing/midwifery with depth in some areas and a broad range of skills.
3. Demonstrated ability to act as a clinical resource person and role model, including mentoring and preceptoring less experienced staff and students.
4. Demonstrated contribution to the development and implementation of local activities beyond direct client care e.g. clinical education, assist in management, research/quality assurance activities.
5. Demonstrated effective communication skills to achieve positive outcomes, including maintaining productive multi-disciplinary working relationships, effectively dealing with challenging behaviours, and resolving conflicts.
6. Demonstrated well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health care provision for clients and families.
Desirable:
Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice in relevant specialty area.
