C9 is hiring a senior, hands-on engineer to architect and deliver AI + automation outcomes across ML, GenAI, agentic AI, data platforms, workflow automation and RPA. This role sits at the core of what we're building next, a long-term capability we're deliberately investing in and scaling around.
Not a single-project role: you'll work across multiple client engagements at once, so priority and time management is essential.
What you'll do
* Work directly with clients to run discovery, map processes, and propose pragmatic solution options (cost-aware, best-fit, avoid unnecessary vendor lock-in).
* Architect and deliver AI solutions across ML, GenAI assistants/copilots, and agentic AI patterns (where appropriate).
* Deliver automation and process improvement using a best-fit mix of:
* workflow automation (e.g. Power Automate / similar)
* orchestration (e.g. n8n)
* RPA (e.g. UiPath and comparable tools)
* Build and support modern data pipelines and platforms (lake/warehouse/lakehouse) that enable analytics + AI workloads.
* Contribute to standards, reusable patterns, documentation and handover.
What we're looking for
* 5+ years of experience architecting & shipping production AI/automation outcomes is required.
* Strong client-facing consulting skills: discovery, optioning, trade-offs, stakeholder communication.
* Strong automation/process optimisation capability (workflow automation and/or RPA).
* Solid engineering fundamentals (Python and/or C#, SQL, APIs/integrations) and delivery hygiene.
* Strong drive to achieve client outcomes within varying size projects and a creative approach to problem solving within budget and infrastructure technology constraints.
* Comfortable balancing multiple concurrent priorities and keeping delivery moving predictably.
* Leadership potential - scope to mentor others and take on more delivery leadership as we scale.
* Autonomous results driven individual with proven ability to efficiently work remotely as part of remote working teams.
* Azure + AWS data platforms / lakehouse (incl. Databricks), Microsoft Fabric and AWS equivalents.
* Data visualisation (Power BI / Amazon QuickSight).
* Strong DevOps/IaC approach (CI/CD, Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK).
* Working for similar companies to C9.
You won't be hired to "fill a gap", you'll be part of the core capability we're building around as we grow, directly underpinning customer delivery and our forward roadmap. Our delivery model supports Brisbane hybrid or remote work, with occasional travel only when it adds real value.
