Position Information
The School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) – Mental Health and Behaviour plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and behavioural development of students within the school community. Working under the direction of Intensive Learning Support Mental Health and Intensive Learning Support Behaviour teachers, the SLSO assists in implementing interventions and strategies to promote positive behaviour, support mental health needs, and foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
This role involves working directly with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support, contributing to behaviour management plans, and assisting in the delivery of social-emotional learning programs. The SLSO will liaise closely with teachers, parents, and relevant external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students, helping to improve educational outcomes and wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
* Working with Children Check Clearance
* Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and a willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the School Learning Support Officer role.
* Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.
* Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions).

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
* Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
* Effective communication skills.
