Operations Safety Management Systems Lead

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and assistance to the Operations Manager to develop, implement and maintain Safety Management Systems and enable compliance with relevant safety, quality and environment legislation, codes and standards for the plant operations within the framework of established SafeWork's Safety Management System and the requirements of a Major Hazard Facility (MHF).

As well as site duties, the role requires maintaining flexibility and focus on efficient operational performance and cross‑functional support.


Duties and Responsibilities

* Drive compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental policies, procedures and directions in place from time to time and maintain a safe work environment.
* Provide technical resource and guidance to the operations in the development, implementation and maintenance of established Safety Management Systems (SMS) for the sites, including the requirements for the new Edinburgh project site (such as but not limited to safety case review and submission, compliance to regulations and obtaining/maintaining licences).
* Conduct toolbox meetings, trainings, awareness campaigns and programs to continuously improve the safety culture of TriCal Australia.
* Create, maintain and update documentation, equipment maintenance and records related to processes within the framework of SMS and established systems of TriCal Australia as a Major Hazard Facility.
* Work with other managers in Operations, interstate and other cross‑functional teams to drive compliance to the elements of TriCal Australia's Safety Management Systems.
* Implement and document the management of change program across TriCal Australia operations.
* Create and implement safety and quality audit plans in reference with the established internal and external standards (e.g. ISO 9001, 14001, AS 4801).
* Lead incident investigation using proven and established problem‑solving methodologies to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions, followed through until timely closure.
* Perform administrative roles, communications and coordination during meetings and prepare reports as required, internal and external.
* Continuously track and monitor trends and indicators related to SMS dashboard and KPIs, sustain and maintain current platforms as the systems administrator.
* Abide with TriCal Australia's rules, regulations and policies.
* Maintain compliance of the sites to regulatory, operational and reportorial requirements in reference to local and national standards and regulations.
