Regional Development Australia Illawarra Shoalhaven (RDAIS) is seeking a Policy and Project Manager to join its growing team and support the economic development and resilience of the Illawarra Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay Territory region.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Policy and Project Manager will lead the development, delivery and evaluation of strategic projects, policy initiatives and submissions which align with RDAIS's regional priorities and annual Business Plan. This position suits a proactive, outcomes‐driven professional who is confident managing complex projects, producing high‐quality analysis, and working across all levels of government, industry and community.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Development & Strategic Advice
* Conduct high-quality research and policy analysis to support evidence‐based decision‐making on regional development issues.
* Proactively monitor emerging policy trends, regional data and government initiatives relevant to economic development, workforce, infrastructure, and investment attraction.
* Lead the coordination and drafting of policy submissions and briefing papers, working closely with the Regional Development Manager and key stakeholders to secure input, endorsement, and regional buy‐in.
* Draft policy submissions, briefing papers, strategic reports and business cases for stakeholders, funding bodies and government agencies.
* Assist with the creation of stakeholder presentations and identify opportunities to raise RDAIS's profile and influence on key issues in line with regional and organisational priorities.
* Support the development and implementation of the RDAIS Regional Plan and Annual Business Plan.
Project Management
* Manage end to end delivery of strategic projects including scoping, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, implementation and evaluation in a team environment.
* Support funding applications and internal acquittals by preparing project documentation, tracking milestones and coordinating appropriate reporting.
* Apply project management tools and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and aligned to strategic objectives.
* Using regional insights, help guide the strategic direction of the organisation's priorities for new projects based on emerging trends.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
* Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with government, industry, education, business and community stakeholders.
* Work with the Regional Development Manager, represent RDAIS at regional forums, stakeholder meetings and events to advocate for regional priorities and promote shared outcomes.
* Garner stakeholder feedback, support and insights on key projects and RDAIS's strategic direction.
* Facilitate partnerships which enhance investment, workforce development, and infrastructure opportunities across the region and ultimately help RDAIS achieve its outcomes.
Organisational Support
* Provide high‐level policy and project advice to the CEO and Board, including preparation of agendas, papers, and reporting as required.
* Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team by participating in strategic planning, evaluation activities, and continuous improvement processes.
* Demonstrate initiative in driving outcomes, sourcing solutions to issues and contributing to the organisation's operational priorities.
Essential Requirements
* Strong working knowledge of the Illawarra Shoalhaven region and/or regional development frameworks.
* Demonstrated experience in managing projects and/or developing policy in a government, NFP, or economic development, process or funding context.
* Highly developed written communication skills, including the ability to write for different audiences (e.g., policy briefs, reports, business cases).
* Strong analytical and research skills, with a proven ability to translate data into insights and recommendations.
* Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders to influence, collaborate and deliver outcomes, particularly those in Government.
* Ability to work independently, think strategically, manage competing priorities and take a pragmatic, proactive approach.
* Hold a current driver's license and be able to travel around the region and to major capital cities including Sydney and Canberra as required.
