As a Development Compliance Officer, You Will
* Investigate reports of unlawful or non-complying development and breaches of approval conditions.
* Conduct audits and property inspections to ensure compliance with guidelines, relevant acts and Council requirements.
* Liaise with offenders, conduct follow-up inspections, prepare correspondence, and coordinate legal enforcement actions as needed.
* Provide expert advice on compliance matters to internal and external stakeholders.
* Represent Council in legal proceedings and collaborate with other departments and legal advisers.
Essential
What We're Looking For
* Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge in regulatory compliance, auditing, or investigation (preferably within Local Government).
* Knowledge of Local Government operations and the regulatory framework.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong analytical, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
* Ability to maintain independence, professionalism, and objectivity.
* Sound time management and task prioritisation abilities.
* Current QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence.
Desirable
* Trade Certificate in Building, Plumbing, or similar.
* Certificate in Planning, Regulatory Compliance, Investigation, or similar.
* Understanding of relevant Legislative Acts and Australian Standards (e.g, Planning Act 2016, Building Act 1975, Plumbing & Drainage Act 2018, Environmental Protection Act 1974 & relevant Local Laws).
