The position focuses on data-driven strategies to enhance student and staff engagement, expand markets and partnerships, and develop industry-relevant courses.About UsThe National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is Australia’s premier training ground for future leaders and practitioners in the dramatic arts. Located at Kensington in Sydney, it is a Centre of excellence in education and training. NIDA is unique in the world for its practice-based and industry-relevant training in the range that it offers which includes Acting, Design, Costume, Properties and Objects, Technical Theatre and Stage Management, Scenic Construction, Writing for Performance, Directing and Cultural Leadership.About the RoleThe Deputy Director, Learning and Innovation works closely with the Director to develop and implement strategic objectives aligned with NIDA’s Strategic and Business Plans. This role leads initiatives focused on enhancing student and staff engagement, improving the experience and success of both domestic and international students, and strengthening work-integrated learning in collaboration with industry. It includes responsibility for student wellbeing, mental health, and inclusion, as well as serving as the key liaison for marketing and recruitment strategy. The Deputy Director oversees the development of student-facing policies and ensures compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements, while managing academic and student support services, including budgets and staffing. The role also involves preparing governance reports, improving data analytics for informed decision-making, leading compliance and risk management, and ensuring all external reporting obligations are met. The Deputy Director is a member of several key committees, contributing to academic leadership and institutional governance.About YouYou possess a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field, with a strong leadership track record in higher education. Your expertise spans student support and wellbeing, recruitment, academic project management, and policy development. You have demonstrated success in strategic and operational planning, delivering ambitious goals, and managing resources sustainably. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you effectively engage diverse stakeholders. You have strong knowledge of relevant regulations, including TEQSA, ASQA, and standards around wellbeing, safety, and inclusion.
