What You'll Be Doing:
In this varied role, you'll:
* Coordinate and deliver Busways' ESG activities across the business, ensuring sustainability obligations are met consistently and effectively. Lead the review, analysis and reporting of environmental data for internal and external stakeholders, including for the ESG Steering Committee, state government clients, NGERS, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS energy and water surveys), and AASB S2 (climate related sustainability reporting).
* Collaborate with key stakeholders in Health and Safety, Assets, Service Delivery, and Property teams to monitor environmental incidents and related processes; including maintaining the environmental risk register.
* Lead the continual improvement of environmental management processes and practices and manage the ISO 14001 certified environmental management system.
* Contribute sustainability related content and analytics for internal and external contract plan reporting and review at regular intervals, including quarterly and biannually.
* Serve as Busways' SME for sustainability, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to understand their obligations, needs and issues, and work with them to solve business challenges.
* Collaborate and support internal stakeholders with operational social sustainability compliance and contractual requirements including diversity and inclusion plans, WGEA and anti-Modern Slavery activities and reporting.
* Build sustainability capability across the organisation through education, guidance and awareness activities that support teams to embed ESG principles into their roles.
What You'll Bring:
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and governance frameworks for environmental and social sustainability in Australia
Minimum 2+ years' relevant experience in a similar role, a tertiary qualification in Environmental Management/Sustainability or extensive relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to engage people, be naturally curious and open to learning other perspectives, an effective listener and empathetic to competing needs and issues
High level communication skills – both written and verbal skills including the ability to lead meetings and write correspondence, reports, and internal communications
Excellent analytical skills, high attention to detail and computer literacy including confidence using Microsoft Office at an intermediate level
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work autonomously
Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have working rights in Australia.
