About the role
The Lead Data Modeller will be working with the relevant project team to lead the development and implementation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models to integrate source data into the enterprise data warehouse and provide data modelling expertise and leadership.
Our Student360 Program is seeking a Lead Data Modeller with a keen focus to design, develop, implement, scale, maintain solutions and large-scale processing systems. This includes building data pipelines, logging and monitoring. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to address data infrastructure requirements and tackle technical challenges.
This position will play an important role in supporting the implementation of a new, consolidated, secure student CRM that will allow effective connection to successfully support students throughout their journey. The Student360 Program will deliver a student CRM (Salesforce) that will realise our ambitions for end-to-end student engagement and service delivery.
This role will be based at Macquarie University Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde, and the fixed term contract ends 31 December 2026.
About You
You will be a self-starting individual with excellent work organisation, time management skills and ability to work under pressure. You will have strong analytical skills, an eye for detail and be able to effectively communicate with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
How to apply- Tertiary qualifications in Data and Analytics, Data Science, Business or Statistics or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.- Data Vault 2 data modelling and implementation experience.- Dimensional data modelling and implementation experience.- Proficiency and experience with Erwin Data Modeller or equivalent modelling tool.- Salesforce data modelling experience is highly regarded.- Demonstrated knowledge of database tools (Snowflake recommended) and SQL skills for navigating and troubleshooting these data processes in these platforms.- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Snowflake, JIRA, Wiki, DBT Airflow, etc- Ability to rapidly understand business requirements and map them into logical and physical data models within relevant modelling tools.- Experience working in a collaborative environment.- Technical leadership of the implementation of data and/or integration solutions for complex enterprise systems within complex multistakeholder and formalised project delivery environments- Experience with DBT will be highly regarded.-
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyse and interpret requirements and information from numerous sources and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.- Time management and ability to balance competing demands to effectively prioritise tasks and achieve deadlines, on individual basis as well as for a team.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including the ability to influence senior management and executives.- Presenting to a wide range of audiences with varying levels of data analytics capability.- Working knowledge of the Higher Education or Education Data Model is desired.- Proven experience in data modelling for enterprise-scale data warehouses and analytics environments is essential.- Strong understanding of data governance, data architecture, and best practices for data integration.
