Advisor, Injury Management & WorkCover

A leading emergency services organisation is seeking an experienced Advisor, Injury Management & WorkCover to join its Health, Safety & Wellbeing team. This organisation plays a critical role in supporting emergency response operations across Victoria, delivering essential services to the community 24/7.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a purpose-driven environment supporting frontline and corporate employees across multiple sites.

About the Role

The Advisor, Injury Management & WorkCover is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of workers compensation claims and injury management cases across a complex, high-performance organisation. You will play a pivotal role in early intervention, return-to-work planning, claims governance, and stakeholder engagement.

Working as part of a collaborative Health, Safety & Wellbeing unit, you will provide expert advice, ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, and support continuous improvement in incident response, claims processes, and employee wellbeing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Claims Management

* Manage end-to-end workers compensation claims with a focus on timely, accurate, and people-centric processes.
* Review claims, identify strategies for resolution, and implement cost-effective case management practices.
* Liaise directly with insurers, lawyers, rehabilitation providers, and internal stakeholders.

Injury Management & Return to Work (RTW)

* Review incident and injury reports and initiate early contact to support recovery.
* Develop tailored RTW plans in accordance with legislative requirements.
* Maintain a suitable duties register and collaborate closely with managers on RTW strategies.
* Assist with early intervention initiatives where required.

Governance & Compliance

* Ensure accurate processing of WorkCover payments in collaboration with Payroll and Workforce Management teams.
* Maintain confidentiality and legislative compliance across all documentation.
* Support audits, invoice processing, and continuous improvement of reimbursement and claims systems.

Stakeholder Engagement

* Act as the organisation's first point of contact for WorkCover matters.
* Build strong relationships with internal managers, operational teams, medical professionals, union representatives, and accident compensation services.
* Deliver high-quality communication that supports injured employees and organisational obligations.

Reporting & Administration

* Maintain accurate case notes, RTW plans, injury files, and data records.
* Contribute to regular reporting, analysing trends and opportunities for improvement.
* Provide administrative support to the Early Intervention & Workers Compensation Lead.

Team Contribution & Organisational Alignment

* Assist with training, capability-building, and coaching of managers on injury management best practices.
* Support organisational wellbeing strategies and claims management frameworks.
* Uphold organisational values and contribute to a safe, inclusive, high-performing culture.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

* Minimum 3 years' experience in workers compensation, injury management, or technical case management roles.
* Strong knowledge of Victorian workers compensation legislation, processes, and industry standards.
* Experience delivering end-to-end claims management in complex environments.
* Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to manage multiple cases, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
* Victorian WorkSafe "Role of a Return-to-Work Coordinator" qualification (or equivalent).
* Willingness to complete Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
* Ability to obtain police clearance including fingerprinting.

Desirable

* Tertiary qualifications in Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or related fields.
* Experience within the public sector, emergency services, or a large, multi-site, 24/7 environment.
