About Alta-1 College QLD

Alta-1 College QLD is a multi-sited, independent, Special Assistance School located in South-East Queensland (Moreton Bay Region). Presently the College caters for approximately 130 young people aged 15-19 over two locations in Caboolture / Morayfield. The College is expanding and is needing to grow its teacher relief base. The College has an outstanding staff team of full and part-time staff and operates a unique model in small settings. This model provides a uniquely safe and relationally rich environment for the enrolled students.

The Opportunity

Alta-1 College QLD has been growing and as such we are needing to build our teacher relief / supply pool to ensure that we are fully staffed at all times. In view of this we are currently calling for well-qualified and passionate Christian educators who have a heart for educationally at-risk and vulnerable young people. Where appointed, applicants will work closely with staff teams at one of our secondary programs (middle and senior school programs), to provide educational continuity and safety for the relevant student cohort. Appointed applicants will be responsible for delivery of quality teaching and learning while covering absent staff. Casual staff will report directly to the Assistant Principal. Both primary and secondary trained teachers are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

· Demonstrate a heart to see at-risk young people transforming and flourishing

· Create an environment that educationally disengaged young people love to attend

· Promote and inspire learning among a group of educationally at-risk young people

· Work in alignment with the Alta-1 Education Domain Guidebook (the college education philosophy and pedagogical guide)

· Work collaboratively to ensure the achievement of excellent academic and socio-emotional outcomes for students

· Support a culture in which students experience positive relationships and safety

· Care for the student cohort in a way that reflects the college values

· Differentiate the teaching of the curriculum to ensure that the needs of all individuals are met

· Be sensitive to students experiencing academic, personal, social or challenges.

· Work positively and collaboratively under the leadership of the Assistant Principal, and as part of a highly collegial team.


About you



Essential requirements to be considered for the role


· A committed Christian

· Passionate about helping at-risk young people to improve their lives

· To be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. Include details together with your qualifications.

· Hold a valid driver's licence.

· Ability to operate in healthy ways within team.

· Willingness to embody the Alta-1 College QLD identity, values, behaviours and culture.

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. A committed follower of Jesus Christ who is actively engaged in a church community.

1. Demonstrated passion for and commitment to working with at-risk and educationally disengaged young people.

3. Demonstrated excellence in delivery of education to achieve student learning, engagement and wellbeing outcomes.

4. Familiarity and experience with QCAA and/or ACARA curriculum

5. A respected team player, demonstrating leadership qualities in an educational context.

6. A willingness to understand and align with the Alta-1 College QLD approach to education.

Desirable

1. Familiarity with special assistance schooling

2. Familiarity with the Alta-1 approach to education
