Allen Built is a family-owned and operated commercial, residential, and maintenance construction company based in Southern Tasmania. It is comprised of a team of skilled employees who work alongside business owners Shannon and Angela Allen to provide efficient, quality, and cost-effective building solutions to all clients .
Due to recent workload increases, an opportunity has arisen for a qualified Carpenter to join the team. Specific skills and qualifications required include the following:
Essential qualifications
* Certificate 3 in Carpentry - a copy of the carpentry certificate will need to be produced to validate eligibility for the role.
* National Construction Industry White Card.
* Tasmanian Working with vulnerable people card (WWVP), or ability to successfully obtain this accreditation.
* National Police Check (undertaken within the last 3 months), or the ability to successfully obtain this accreditation.
* Manual drivers licence and suitable personal work vehicle with carpentry tools.
Highly regarded qualifications
* Certificate IV in Building and Construction.
* Valid First Aid training and CPR refresher.
* Working at heights.
* EWP.
* Licence to perform high risk activities.
* Any other construction-specific licences or accreditations.
Essential skills
* Quality control: maintaining high-quality standards throughout the construction process and ensure adherence to specifications and codes.
* Material management: assisting with the delivery, storage, and usage of construction materials, minimizing waste and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
* Documentation: assisting with keeping accurate records of project activities, including site sign in registers, SWMS, JSAs and other forms.
* Technical knowledge: Solid understanding of construction methods, techniques, materials, and equipment as per the National Construction Code and a willingness to obtain external help through consultation with company management to find project solutions.
* WHS: thorough knowledge of safety regulations and protocols, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
* Problem-solving skills: strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to address challenges and adapt to changing project requirements.
* Reading and analysing plans and specifications to determine job requirements.
* Measuring, cutting and building frames for commercial and residential structures, houses, walls, windows, doors, and staircases.
* Measuring and installing furniture such as cabinets, shelves and more.
* Maintenance of existing structures and fittings.
* Ordering of materials using lists provided by senior management.
* Checking the accuracy of work with the use of levels and surveying equipment.
* Effectively using a large range of hand and power tools.
* Lifting/carrying heavy pieces of material or structures.
* Site cleaning and make-good.
* Driving work vehicles and machinery if appropriately licenced.
* Any other duties that are reasonable within the construction scope.
