Job Summary
The Urban Planner position entails assessing development applications, drafting and reviewing local planning policies, evaluating Local Planning Scheme amendments, conducting land use planning research, coordinating responses to State planning initiatives, providing advice to the public and developers, and representing Council in meetings and inquiries.
Responsibilities:
* Reviewing development applications for heritage places
* Drafting and reviewing comprehensive planning policies
* Evaluating Local Planning Scheme amendments
* Conducting research on land use planning strategies
* Coordinating responses to state-wide planning initiatives
* Providing expert advice to stakeholders
* Representing the Council at meetings and hearings
Requirements:
* Hold a tertiary qualification in Urban or Town Planning
* Prior experience in statutory or strategic planning
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* A clear and concise communication style
* Knowledge of planning legislation and regulatory frameworks
* Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
