Our agile and dynamic Australian Defence and Infrastructure delivery team lead multi-disciplinary projects that bring together experts from across Beca to provide Project Management, Design, Asset and Digital Engineering advisory services to support Defence capability. This role will be part of the AU Digital Engineering Advisory section that has a focus on delivering end-to-end management and advisory capabilities. Our team is at the forefront of digitally transforming the infrastructure sector, having delivered industry leading digital strategy, policy, and change management across the Asia Pacific.
The Opportunity
We have established a dynamic team to meet the challenges to Beca's traditional engineering services and to support clients with their digital transformation journey. Due to the demand and growth opportunities in the Defence market, A Digital Engineering Principal is required to steer this expanding service offering to this market and be responsible for growing the capability and accommodate our strategic growth. The role will report into the AU Defence, Infrastructure Advisory group and be responsible for leading and shaping the remits and possibilities for Digital Engineering capability with alignment and needs of the CASG Digital Engineering Strategy.
The Digital Engineering Technical Director will work closely with the Beca market facing Defence group to understand regional and project delivery needs, key partnerships, key services and own the Beca Defence Digital Engineering Strategy. This will include responding to immediate delivery demands and projects and prepare the Beca business for future state capabilities and what innovation and resource needs will support this strategy.
You will also:-
* Plan and lead multidisciplinary design teams on major and complex Digital Engineering focused projects and bids
* Develop and manage Digital Engineering workflows through the design, construction and handover phases of project
* Grow the demand for Digital Engineering services with both existing and new client relationships
* Help develop BIM and digital engineering practices, identifying new skill requirements and changes in capability, and sharing these practices with clients and delivery practitioners within Beca;
* Leading, mentoring and demonstrating Digital Engineering execution on projects, providing a governance role and supporting juniors upskill and develop in delivery practices and documentation
* Communicating the value proposition to the organisation and embed changes in the way BIM and collaborative information management practices (per ISO are adopted across the project lifecycle;
* Monitor technological innovations in industry ensuring Beca remains contemporary in its delivery practices (eg. encouraging the adoption of technological advances to support health and safety or site optimisation practices);
* Champion Digital Engineering at Beca and represent Beca internally and externally
Working with the team, you will motivate to encourage innovative thinking, develop new ideas/approaches and promote the values of Beca.
About You
You'll have a relevant tertiary qualification and have Accreditation or similar proof of training with ISO A solid track record in developing and leading technically capable, diverse and high performing teams and driving a culture of problem-solving, collaboration and excellence and strong communication.
This experience will preferably be in the engineering sector in Project Management, Design Management, Asset Management, Digital design processes, Information Management, Geospatial or Surveying where you will have a strong grasp of the drivers for change in the construction and asset management sector.
This lead role is a strategic technical role that requires deep technical understanding of the model based engineering and digital technologies.
You Will Also Have
* Experience in leadership positions with demonstrated capability gained in complex organisations (business or organisational leadership, people leadership)
* Experience leading change and influencing a broad group of stakeholders to adopt new ways of working
* BIM advisory roles and experience with legislative and industry standards
* Preferably a background in engineering delivery roles (briefing, design, construction) with a strong and demonstrable business acumen
* Sound understanding of the service lifecycle of assets, from the investment decision-process through to planning, delivery, handover and operations and maintenance
* Expert in the Digital Engineering domain area and experienced in deploying it on representative programs.
* Demonstrated leadership of complex, cross-disciplinary technical teams
* Superlative communication skills, both in-person, and over distances.
* Must be an AU Citizen, Defence Baseline (or higher) clearance preferable
* Must be willing and able to travel 10% of the time.
