Overview

Kids Hub Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (I-PCIT) Clinician - Karitane

Join NSW Health to deliver I-PCIT (PCIT program via the virtual platform) to families accessing the KIDS HUB, a project initiative and partnership between the NSW Ministry of Health and Karitane.

The PCIT Clinician will deliver services to meet the agreed number of families set by the lead agency. This is a temporary part-time/full-time contract until June 30, 2026.

- Department: Perinatal, Infant and Child Mental Health Services (KIDS HUB)
- Operational base: Perinatal, Infant and Child Mental Health Services (Toddler Clinic)
- Status: Temporary Full-time / Part-time contract until June 30, 2026
- Classification: Dependent on current qualifications: Allied Health or Nursing
- Vaccination category: A
- Responsible to: Director of Clinical Services through to the PICMHS Manager

Purpose

Karitane Parent, Infant and Child Mental Health Services (PICMHS) provides mental health assessment and therapeutic intervention for parents during the perinatal period and for families with young children aged 0–5 years. The successful applicant will deliver I-PCIT to families accessing the KIDS HUB, a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Karitane. The PCIT Clinician will deliver services to meet the agreed number of families set by the lead agency.

The PCIT Clinician (Toddler Clinic) provides safe, effective care aligned with Karitane’s mission, values and standards of care, and the Professional Code of Conduct. Staff adhere to NSW Health Code of Conduct.

Key selection criteria

- AHPRA registration as a Clinical Psychologist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse. A degree in Psychology, Social Work or Nursing that provides eligibility for membership or full registration.
- If Psychologist: full registration; Clinical Psychologist: endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Master’s degree (or higher) in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
- If Registered Nurse: meet Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 with at least 5 years post‑registration experience and relevant perinatal/infant/child mental health qualifications.
- PCIT Clinician will receive ongoing supervision and support in delivering PCIT.
- Knowledge and experience in working with families and infant mental health.
- Computer literacy and ability to use technology for service delivery.
- Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, with conflict mediation abilities.
- Understanding of parenting in the context of diversity.
- Current Driver’s Licence.

Conditions of employment

Temporary part-time or full-time employment in accordance with NSW Allied Health or NSW Nurses Agreement 2017/2022. Shift times and days may vary. Karitane services are located at several sites within the Sydney Metropolitan Area. Most Karitane services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time leave is required.
