About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at the Cobram Hotel. As Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our busy kitchen. This is a full-time position based at our hotel in Cobram, Victoria.

What you'll be doing

1. Assist the Head Chef in the management of the kitchen team, including scheduling, training and performance management
2. Prepare and cook high-quality dishes from our diverse menu, ensuring consistency and presentation standards are maintained
3. Participate in menu planning and development, contributing ideas to expand and enhance our offerings
4. Oversee stock control and ordering to maintain adequate supplies of ingredients
5. Ensure the kitchen operates in compliance with all relevant health, safety and hygiene regulations
6. Foster a positive, collaborative team environment in the kitchen

What we're looking for

1. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role
2. Formal culinary training or qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
3. Exceptional cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques
4. Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
5. Strong leadership and people management skills to motivate and guide the kitchen team
6. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards
