* Field Operations Grade 4| Salary from $84,659.00 plus super and leave loading

Local Land Services (LLS) is an Executive Agency within the Department of Regional NSW. It provides quality, customer-focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. This regionally based organisation brings together a wide range of service and advisory functions including agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, land management, biodiversity, emergency services, private native forestry and management of Travelling Stock Reserves (TSR).

About the Role

As a Biosecurity Officer, you'll be out in the field providing expert advice to landholders on managing pest animals including rabbits, foxes, deer and feral pigs. You'll help landholders choose the right control methods for their properties, supply restricted chemical products in line with legislation, and play a key role in reducing biosecurity risks across the region.

You'll also contribute to a variety of important programs, including emergency response activities, plant and animal biosecurity inspections (such as at saleyards), and supporting the management of Travelling Stock Reserves.

Main responsibilities:

* Working with local communities and team members to implement education and strategic control programs to protect against invasive pest animals and plant biosecurity threats
* Issuing of restricted pesticide products and associated equipment to land mangers ensuring strict compliance with legislation
* Support strategic initiatives for biosecurity surveillance in the region including saleyard inspections
* Contribute to positive relationships with customers and stakeholders in the Riverina region, aligning biosecurity activities with local values
* Collaborate with team members and professionals to ensure a results driven team
* Maintain accurate records in compliance with established policies and procedures

Essential requirements:

* Relevant qualifications or ability to obtain in pesticide application (AQF3 & AQF4).
* Eligibility to hold a NSW firearms licence and certification for humane animal destruction,
* The ability to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act.
* A valid NSW Class C Driver's Licence with a willingness to travel (including overnight stays) as required.
