One full time ongoing vacancy is available

Are you ready to play a key role in strengthening the Northern Territory's infrastructure reliability and asset performance? The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is seeking a skilled engineering professional to lead the development of preventative and statutory maintenance planning across government-owned building assets.

The Infrastructure Maintenance Branch supports NT Government agencies by delivering urgent repairs, cyclical maintenance, and emergency/disaster response functions for build infrastructure across the northern region. This is your opportunity to contribute to safe, compliant, and sustainable public assets across the Territory.

About the Role

As the Senior Preventative Maintenance Planning and Engineering Officer, you will take the lead in designing, developing, and maintaining high quality preventative and predictive maintenance programs for NT Government building assets.

This role is suited to an engineering professional who thrives in an environment where technical expertise, innovation, and cross agency collaboration are essential. You will provide authoritative advice on asset reliability, statutory maintenance obligations, and engineering standards, ensuring infrastructure remains safe, compliant, and operational throughout its lifecycle.

If you enjoy applying engineering principles such as Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to optimise maintenance planning, this role offers you the scope to influence asset management practices across the Territory.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop preventative and predictive maintenance plans aligned with statutory requirements, asset condition, operational needs, and industry standards.
* Provide expert advice on Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), data driven predictive maintenance, and statutory compliance requirements.
* Prepare professional engineering reports, submissions, and technical documents.
* Support NT Government agencies by offering specialised guidance on asset reliability and maintaining statutory compliance.
* Uphold service quality standards, safety requirements, and reporting systems across all areas of responsibility.
* Contribute as a senior member of the branch, bringing forward innovative ideas that improve outcomes and strengthen maintenance programs.
About You

You're an engineering professional with the capacity to lead, influence and drive improvement across complex asset portfolios. You bring:

* Tertiary qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic engineering (eligible for Engineers Australia registration).
* Demonstrated experience developing preventative and statutory maintenance programs.
* Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, and industry best practice.
* Expertise in asset management, risk management, and maintenance strategies using RCM or FMECA methodologies.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts for diverse audiences.
* Strong analytical and problem solving capability, with evidence of delivering effective solutions to complex technical issues.
* Proven stakeholder engagement experience, with the ability to build productive internal and external relationships.
* Experience using Asset Management Information Systems and applying asset data for evidence based decision making.

Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications in Asset Management or Asset Maintenance.

What We Offer
* A technically challenging role with Territory-wide impact.
* Opportunity to innovate and influence asset maintenance practices across government.
* Supportive engineering environment with opportunities for professional growth.
* Competitive salary and job security within the Northern Territory Public Sector.
