The Opportunity
We're seeking a Media Strategy and Communications Officer to deliver high-quality communications, media, marketing and engagement services that strengthen NAAJA's profile, reputation and impact.
This role will see you working closely with senior leadership, legal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective communication that reflects NAAJA's values and advocacy priorities.
What You'll Do
* Develop and implement communications strategies that promote NAAJA's services, advocacy and community impact.
* Act as the first point of contact for media enquiries, drafting timely and accurate releases, statements and briefings.
* Manage digital platforms (website, social media), creating engaging content that amplifies Aboriginal voices.
* Produce high-quality written, visual and multimedia materials including reports, newsletters, campaigns and promotional content.
* Support advocacy campaigns, community engagement events, and corporate reporting such as the Annual Report and Strategic Plan.
* Coordinate marketing campaigns and brand activities, ensuring consistent and professional presentation.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with media, government, community partners and other stakeholders.
* Provide issues and crisis communications support when required.
About You
We're looking for someone who is creative, proactive and passionate about using communications to create meaningful change. Someone that will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications (or relevant experience) in Communications, PR, Media, Marketing or related field.
* Demonstrated media relations experience, with excellent writing and storytelling skills.
* Strong digital and social media content management skills.
* Experience in branding, campaigns and marketing strategies.
* Ability to work respectfully in cross-cultural settings and commitment to Aboriginal justice issues.
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Current NT Driver's Licence and ability to obtain an Ochre Card and satisfactory criminal history check.
