Job Overview
As a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing specialist forestry equipment such as skidders, feller-bunchers, and Peterson chippers. You will work closely with the maintenance team to ensure all mobile equipment is in good working order.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform regular mechanical inspections and servicing of all mobile equipment as directed by the maintenance manager.
* Carry out corrective maintenance on all mobile equipment as directed by the maintenance supervisor or planner.
* Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and rectify any issues.
* Ensure all completed mechanical documentation are submitted to the maintenance supervisor or planner for record keeping.
* Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement in maintenance processes.
* Work collaboratively with other roles to complete tasks as required.
* Participate in meetings and communicate effectively with the team.
* Notify the maintenance supervisor of any defects or damage on all mobile equipment.
* Liaise with supervision to ensure vehicle inspections and major repairs are planned and scheduled.
Qualifications and Experience
* A heavy duty diesel mechanic trade certificate is essential.
* Minimum two years experience in heavy/medium/light vehicle maintenance.
* Post-apprenticeship experience is preferred.
* Mobile plant equipment experience is advantageous, particularly with heavy vehicle mining equipment.
* Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication are required.
* The ability to work autonomously and proactively is essential.
* Flexibility and adaptability are necessary to thrive in a demanding environment.
* Ability to work well within a small team environment.
* A MR/HR truck licence is recommended but not required.
