The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates. RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and delivering strategic projects on time, within scope, and on budget. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage external vendors and consultants, and ensure governance processes and frameworks are followed.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading project teams to deliver strategic initiatives
* Developing and maintaining project documentation such as charters, schedules, budgets, and risk registers
* Managing risks, issues, dependencies, and quality assurance
* Reporting on project performance to governance forums
* Coordinating stakeholder engagement and communications across diverse groups
* Overseeing vendor and contract management where required
* Supporting project closure, benefits tracking, and continuous improvement
Skills and Experience
You will bring:
* Expertise in project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile)
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide cross-functional and vendor/consultant teams
* Experience in project financial management, including cost tracking and benefits realisation
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
* A highly organised and resilient approach, with a focus on achieving outcomes
* Relevant certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, AgilePM, MSP) is desirable
This role is full time, 2-year maximum term contract. The role can be based out of one of our RACS offices across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
