Primary objective
Working closely with service providers in the field, oversee the coordination of efforts to address Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence
(DFSV) within the region. Manage Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence regional coordination to ensure reform implementation is locally
driven and responsive, and to enable coordination and strengthening of the local service systems.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop and implement innovative, community-driven and effective consultative and engagement mechanisms, to facilitate
communication and collaboration on the issues of DFSV prevention and response across sectors and communities in the region.
2. Manage and support the local coordination of culturally appropriate DFSV training and professional development in line with the
DFSV Workforce and Sector Development Plan.
3. Provide leadership and support to local non-government DFSV services in understanding and complying with service delivery and
practise standards, including the Risk Assessment Management Framework.
4. In line with the DFSV Framework, implement and monitor innovative initiatives to encourage leadership and participation of services
and individuals in prevention and response, including targeted sexual violence initiatives.
5. Provide leadership and governance across the region in relation to prevention and response, quality and coordination.
6. Develop and implement a formal process for culturally aligned partnerships and reciprocal information flows with Aboriginal
stakeholders to inform and co-design the development and delivery of services.
7. Represent the NTG in a range of forums including inter-departmental and inter-governmental meetings.
8. Deliver consistency of services through effective contract management and skilled relationship management of service providers.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Deep understanding of DFSV dynamics, risk factors, prevention strategies, and support services.
2. Demonstrated understanding of the context, issues and challenges of DFSV prevention and response within the NT, national and
international strategy, policies, trends and initiatives.
3. Deep understanding of diverse cultural perspectives and experiences related to domestic violence.
4. Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate the non-government sector, government agencies and stakeholders to build and
maintain effective, collaborative relationships and drive change.
5. Proven track record of implementing innovative initiatives aligned with the relevant frameworks, fostering leadership and
participation in DFSV prevention and response, including primary prevention.
6. Experience and skills in working with Aboriginal and culturally diverse communities and the ability to establish formal processes for
culturally aligned consultation to inform the development of services.
7. Proven track record of building partnerships and working effectively with diverse groups, such as law enforcement, social services,
healthcare providers, and community organizations.
8. Proven adaptability and resilience; the ability to calmly handle crises and make sound decisions under pressure.
9. Proven strong project management and coordination skills.
10. NT Drivers Licence or ability to gain, and ability to travel regularly to rural and remote communities, including overnight stays as
relevant and required for the Region.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in public sector or business management, human services or other relevant field.
