Position: Metal Fabricator
Location: 7 Airds Rd, Minto NSW 2566, Australia
Job type: Full-time, onsite / 38 hours per week Monday to Friday
Salary range: AUD75,000 - 90,000 annual salary + superannuation
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Metal Fabricator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components to meet our high-quality standards. You will work closely with our team to interpret blueprints, operate welding equipment, and ensure precision in every project.
As a Metal Fabricator, you will report directly to the factory supervisor, collaborating to maintain safety standards, optimize production efficiency, and contribute to the successful completion of various projects.
Responsibilities
* Studying blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements
* Selecting, cleaning, and preparing metal stock
* Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines
* Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
* Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
* Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting
* Examining welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision
* Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing in acidic solutions
* Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling, and grinding
Skills Required
* Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Welding) (At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification)
* Demonstrated proficiency in various welding techniques
* Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
* Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
* Ability to inspect and test welds for strength and quality
* Experience with metal fabrication, cutting, and grinding tools
* Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to industry regulations
* Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
* Effective communication and teamwork skills
