Job Description
D&E Masonry Co Pty Ltd The successful candidate will carry out bricklaying and blocklaying works in accordance with construction plans, specifications, relevant standards, and site safety requirements. Duties align with the Bricklayer occupation (ANZSCO 331111).
Key Responsibilities Interpret construction drawings, specifications, levels and set-out details to plan brick/block work. Select, prepare and lay bricks, blocks and other masonry units to construct and repair walls, partitions, piers and other structures. Mix, apply and spread mortar; ensure correct bond patterns, alignment, plumb, level and line throughout installation.
Cut, shape and trim bricks/blocks using hand and power tools to fit spaces and achieve required finishes. Build features such as arches, retaining walls, steps, and other masonry elements as required by project scope. Install damp-proof courses, flashings, weep holes and ties where required; ensure weatherproofing and structural integrity.
Point, grout and finish joints (including raking, tooling and cleaning) to achieve a high-quality appearance. Repair/replace damaged masonry and conduct remedial works to existing brick/block structures. Maintain a clean and organised work area; handle and store materials safely and efficiently.
Comply with WHS requirements, including safe manual handling, tool safety, PPE use, and site procedures. Skills and Qualifications Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying (or equivalent). Minimum 1 year of relevant bricklaying/blocklaying experience post-qualification (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and accurately set out work. Strong workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to quality finishes. Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks on construction sites.
Strong understanding of WHS obligations and safe work practices. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
