Strategic Planning Director
Capstone, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Planning Director to lead the development of the directorates and provide leadership for the Planning & Place and Resilience and Compliance & Commercial teams.
Job Description
The Strategic Planning Director will be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision for the Council's urban renewal and strategic planning initiatives. This includes the preparation of a master plan for Strathfield Town Centre and working with NSW Government in the delivery of the Homebush Masterplan under the TOD program.
* Develop and implement strategies to achieve the Council's goals and objectives;
* Lead and manage the Planning & Place and Resilience and Compliance & Commercial teams;
* Provide guidance and support to external government and non-government stakeholders to advocate for exceptional outcomes and targeted investment in Strathfield;
The successful candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning, stakeholder management, and leadership. They will be able to interact with all levels of government and have excellent communication and advocacy skills.
They will also be comfortable generating alternatives, visualising new possibilities, challenging assumptions and opening themselves up to new information. Additionally, they will be eager to foster strong partnerships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and the community to drive innovative and strategic urban development.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as urban planning, environmental science, or business administration;
* At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role within a local government or similar organisation;
* Strong understanding of local government policy and procedure;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
* High level of integrity and professionalism;
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information;
It would be desirable if you have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, experience in budgeting and financial management, and knowledge of local government policies and procedures.
