This civil contractor is a family‐owned company that is expanding as a leading contractor in the Sydney, Illawarra and Southern Highlands areas. Their main expertise lies in water and wastewater infrastructure, but they also deliver work in civil and earthmoving.
About the Role
The Estimator will be part of a small team tendering on Sydney Water packages of work on various civil projects, predominantly subdivisions. The role will report directly to the owner and ultimately will run the estimating team.
Key Responsibilities
* Review contract documents, including scope of work and specifications, at the tender stage.
* Develop lump‐sum pricing or bills of quantities for a range of civil projects.
* Apply risk management and safe construction techniques when developing construction methodologies and programmes with the construction team.
* Manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
* Produce tenders ranging from $1million to $10million, including multiple packages of work.
* Estimate and monitor projects through construction to handover.
* Assist with identifying and preparing variations and extensions of time in accordance with the head contract.
Key Requirements
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Engineering.
* Experience tendering on Sydney Water projects for a tier2/3 contractor (mandatory).
* Proven track record and more than 3years' experience in Australia.
* Ability to interpret drawings.
* Strong organisational and time‐management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
* Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
* Excellent MS Excel skills with the ability to construct spreadsheets for relevant tenders.
* Current residence in Australia and Australian work experience.
