About the Role
We are seeking an energetic and experienced Principal Lawyer – Personal Injury to establish and lead their new practice.
This is not a role where you simply inherit a caseload (though there are quite a few matters you can get stuck into early) - you will be responsible for building a practice from the ground up.
Initially focused on plaintiff personal injury work (workers' compensation, motor vehicle accidents, public liability, medical negligence), the role also offers scope to grow the practice into adjacent areas such as class actions, wills and estates, conveyancing, and employment law as demand increases.
Key responsibilities include:
* Establishing and leading a plaintiff PI practice.
* Managing and running a caseload of matters to deliver high-quality outcomes.
* Designing systems, processes and frameworks to support future growth.
* Expanding into new practice areas in line with member needs.
* Mentoring and developing junior team members.
* Working closely with the leadership team to shape strategy and profitability.
About You
This role will suit a Senior Associate or Special Counsel with a plaintiff PI background who is ready for a bigger platform. You will bring:
* 6–12 years PAE in personal injury law.
* Strong technical and litigation skills across workers comp, CTP, public liability and/or medical negligence.
* Commercial awareness and a track record of delivering results.
* Energy, ambition and entrepreneurial drive - someone who wants to build, not just manage.
* Leadership skills and the ability to grow a team.
* A desire to work in a practice that is independent of the traditional PI model.
