The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians.
The Murray-Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia's economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 40 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
**Your key responsibilities in this role are to**:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the development, testing and implementation of a best practice decision-making framework for determining sustainable water limits through the 2026 Basin Plan Review.
- Lead the adaptive water planning and policy analysis and implementation associated with the Basin Plan Review.
- Lead the climate change theme for Basin Plan Review, consider policy levers at a Commonwealth and state level and ensure they are appropriate for a changing climate, recommend options to strengthen existing arrangements.
- Consider non-water levers as part of the Basin Plan Review, including greater use and connection with complementary measures, natural resource management practices, rules-based arrangements.
- Engage and collaborate with other parts of the MDBA, other APS agencies, Basin governments, the community and other external stakeholders to deliver the program objectives.
- Enhance and build the good reputation of the agency through representation at public and professional forums.
- Contribute substantially as part of the Agency's leadership team.
- Foster key relationships in a complex operating environment through a high standard of professional and personal integrity to build confidence as a reliable and trusted expert.
- Plan and manage allocated resources and lead the development of all staff in the program.
- Promote workplace practices consistent with the APS Values, modelling high quality leadership and management practices, and creating a dynamic, flexible and collegiate workplace culture.
