Aboriginal Family Legal Services (AFLS) is seeking a Solicitor to join our Port Hedland office and support Aboriginal individuals and families across the Pilbara who are impacted by family and domestic violence. This role is about more than legal work, it’s about showing up for community, building trust, and delivering culturally safe, trauma‑informed services in a regional setting where relationships matter.

About the Role You’ll work closely with clients, families and communities across Port Hedland and surrounding remote areas, managing a varied caseload that includes:
Family Law
Family Violence Restraining Orders
Child Protection matters
Criminal Injuries Compensation
Community Legal Education and outreach to remote communities
You’ll appear in Courts across Western Australia and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure clients receive holistic, wrap‑around support. Regular travel to remote communities is a key and meaningful part of this role.
About You
Is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of WA and holds a current WA Practising Certificate
Has experience in family law, child protection, CIC or FVROs
Communicates with empathy, respect and cultural awareness
Can work independently while valuing strong team and community connections
Is comfortable travelling and working across regional and remote areas
Experience in community legal services or regional practice will be highly regarded.
