The Town Maintenance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the East Kimberley region remains a beautiful and sparsely populated area. This position involves maintaining daily reserves, roads, drainage, reticulation systems, and other works in the Kununurra town site and surrounds.
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertaking duties relating to maintenance and construction projects that enhance or modify parks, sporting facilities, public open spaces, reserves, cemeteries, streets, and Shire ablutions.
* Taking part on roadside preparation and maintenance including tree planting, removing litter, trimming, whipper snipping, tree and branch removal, clean up after storms etc.
* Gardening duties including mowing, fertilising, planting, pruning, edging, reticulation maintenance and weed control.
The successful candidate will have a Certificate III in Civil Construction/Horticulture, a current Blue/White Construction Safety Card, and an unrestricted WA 'HR' Class Driver's Licence. They will also possess experience in the safe operation and user maintenance of equipment and experience working outdoors in East Kimberley conditions.
This is a permanent, fixed-term appointment with full-time and part-time positions available. The Shire offers a competitive salary package, including six weeks paid annual leave, extra public holidays, salary packaging options, and superannuation matching co-contribution of 3%.
