This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing January 2026 up until January 2027 with possible extension. A job share arrangement may be considered for this position.
The School Curriculum and Standards Division provides administrative and secretariat services for, and implements the decisions of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority). The Authority provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.
The Role
Located in the Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Directorate, the Principal Consultant, Secondary – English provides leadership in the development and review of curriculum, assessment, and standards support materials for Years 7–10. The role oversees processes and deliverables associated with adopting and/or adapting the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 for English Education (Years 7–10).
Experienced Secondary English teachers with strong curriculum expertise are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be familiar with the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline, with recent Years 7–10 teaching experience considered an advantage. In this role, you will organise, facilitate, and coordinate materials for staff across schools, regions, professional associations, and education sectors.
Successful applicants should have good communication skills, strong time management and organisational skills, and the ability to develop documents collegially, with a focus on internal timeframes. The position supports communication and collaborative processes between systems/sectors, schools and other stakeholder organisations to share and generate ideas and monitor and review implementation processes.

Eligibility
To work with us, you must:
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
* hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
* obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
