We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Wakefield, a category A Prison located in West Yorkshire.
Hours
7‐day service. Monday‐Friday 08:00‐18:00, Saturday‐Sunday 08:30‐16:30.
Weekend duties and bank holidays are shared across the team.
Pay
This role is paid hourly with a rate of £23.83 an hour.

Main duties of the job
* Work within a multi‐disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
* Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
* Assess patients' health needs using an evidence‐based framework and be able to risk‐assess using sound clinical knowledge
* Work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a caseload of patients
* Deliver non‐judgemental care that makes a real difference
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required
* Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
* Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence‐based care
* Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi‐disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job

Qualifications required
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse – NMC registration
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Experience of working with patients face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
* Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
